Benjamin Ramey, PhD, LPC

I decided to become a psychoanalyst after I recognized that something is often missed in clinical mental health services offered to those suffering and looking for help. In response, I found a psychoanalyst to speak with and began my own journey. Psychoanalysis is unique in that, to be a psychoanalyst, one must spend time in analysis and bear the experience of encountering one’s own lack. Something of the painful questioning that brings a person to the consulting room, must also be part of the analyst’s story.

Experience

My experience in the mental health field begins with my time spent working in a community agency providing care to individuals in a residential setting in Portland, Oregon. After I moved to Colorado I began work as a clinician in an intensive outpatient clinic for persons with eating disorders. I now operate a private practice and provide psychoanalysis and clinical assessments in downtown Colorado Springs.

Education and Future Projects

I hold a doctoral degree in clinical psychology. My research looks at the transformation of the subject in psychoanalysis. I am actively engaged in the advanced study and practice of psychoanalysis along with a dedicated community of analysts at the Clinical College of Colorado. I regularly write to produce articles and presentations for academic journals and public forums.
